Yui was discovered at a model audition by a fashion magazine, in which she won the first prize. She soon became the best known model representing NICOLA, and widely respected by girls of the same generation.
She gained nationwide popularity through her breakthrough role in Pocky (Ezaki glico’) TV commercial in 2006. This success led her to countless offers from TV shows and dramas. Her first appearance on screen is for a movie called Koi suru Madori in 2007. That same year, she plays the leading role for Koizora, hitting 3.9 billion yen at box-office, and won numerous film awards for her performance.
She was casted in dozens of hit movies, and proved her versatility as an actress; she ranks as the top Japanese actress of our time. Yui also revealed her talent in music, releasing her first single that was featured as soundtrack for Koi suru Madori. Her music career as has been successful with many smash songs!
